Hobo Bread (Print this)
1/2 to 3/4 cup raisins
2 tsp. soda
1 cup boiling water poured over raisins and soda, let cool
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup corn oil
1 egg
1 cup bran flakes or Bran Buds
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Walnuts, if desired
Pour boiling water over raisins and soda; let cool.
Blend sugar, egg, and corn oil. Add flour, bran flakes or bran buds, salt and nuts. Mix well.
Bake in three tin cans or one greased bread pan lined with waxed paper at 350 degrees for 10 minutes; reduce oven to 325 degrees and bake 30 minutes longer or until done.
